ICON is seeking a Systems Engineer to support the development of the Titan print system, a next-generation machine moving toward serial production. You will work alongside senior engineers on the Titan Team, contributing to hands-on development and technical design of well-engineered, maintainable systems. Key responsibilities include: - Support design, integration, and lifecycle management of systems under senior engineer guidance - Develop and refine measurable, traceable requirements; log validation tests and analyses into the Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM) - Contribute to system architecture that meets requirements, with senior review - Ensure subsystems and components integrate to meet operational and functional needs - Use modeling and simulation tools to analyze system behavior - Identify integration risks and collaborate cross-functionally on mitigation strategies - Support development of validation procedures and methods for verifying system requirements - Apply electrical, mechanical, and control system design principles to robotic platforms for construction applications (motion platforms, robotic manipulators, remote sensing, object manipulation) - Design, assemble, and test prototypes; specify instrumentation for R&D projects - Provide hands-on troubleshooting and manufacturing support in an agile environment - Create design solutions with strong documentation practices using CAD (SolidWorks/SolidWorks Electrical Schematic) - Move between office and field work as needed; contribute to broader product development - Assist in assembly of robotic systems for on- and off-planet applications - Support facility upgrades and equipment installation configuration - Assist in development and maintenance of autonomous robotic systems in harsh outdoor environments - Contribute to productization documentation and cross-functional product deployment to the field The role is based at ICON's Austin, TX office and involves field work in extreme environments. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: - B.S. degree in Systems Engineering, Physics, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or relevant science with 3+ years of experience; OR Master's degree with 1+ years of equivalent experience; OR proven experience in a similar role - Ability to rapidly prototype designs in hardware and software, and support transition to DFM and productization on fast timelines - Track record of contributing to engineering development teams and meeting milestones - Ability to apply first-principles thinking to solve problems - Exposure to design of industrial equipment/machinery, industrial or mobile robotics, and understanding of field requirements - Familiarity with electrical power distribution, cable harnesses, and electrical panel design for industrial machinery - Experience using electrical schematic generation and management software - Strong collaborative communication skills and ability to seek optimal solutions with teammates - Familiarity with AGILE project management methodology - Service-oriented attitude in a support role - Ability to prioritize and stay level-headed in a dynamic startup environment - Strong verbal and written communication skills PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: - 3+ years of experience designing/building industrial automation equipment or related field - Startup experience and/or resourceful, innovative nature with ability to improve processes - Ability to read electrical schematics and troubleshoot electrical/mechanical systems - Exposure to industrial safety systems - Strong communication skills explaining technical concepts to non-technical audiences - Hunger for learning and growth - Familiarity with integrated or autonomous robotic systems PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS: - Must be able to lift 50 pounds - Must be prepared to work in extreme environments: temperatures >100°F or below freezing, sun, rain, mud, lack of electricity, etc. - Must be able to travel 4+ weeks per year internationally
