MemryX is a semiconductor company developing high-performance, low-power AI accelerators for edge computing. The company, founded in 2019 and headquartered in Ann Arbor, Michigan, operates engineering centers in Taipei and Hsinchu, Taiwan, and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. MemryX's compute-near-memory architecture minimizes data movement and enables massively parallel on-chip AI inference. The company is currently in production with its MX3 AI accelerator and actively developing the next-generation MX4, backed by top-tier venture capital.
As a System Hardware Engineer, you will participate in the full product development lifecycle for AI accelerator-based hardware products, primarily PCIe add-in cards and M.2 modules. Your responsibilities include:
**Product Development:** Develop hardware specifications, system architecture, and component selection. Perform schematic design, design reviews, and coordinate with PCB layout engineers. Design and validate high-speed interfaces, power circuits, clocks, reset circuits, boot-related circuits, management interfaces, and peripheral circuitry.
**Hardware Bring-Up & Validation:** Execute new board bring-up, functional verification, and system integration testing. Develop hardware validation plans, test procedures, and reports. Conduct power, signal integrity, stability, performance, thermal, and long-duration reliability testing. Analyze and resolve issues spanning hardware, firmware, drivers, and system integration.
**Firmware Support:** Provide hardware platforms, test environments, and debugging support for the firmware development team. Debug boot flow, PCIe enumeration, I2C/SMBus, SPI, UART, GPIO, reset, and power sequencing issues. Use oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other tools to identify system-level issues and perform root cause analysis.
**Production Support:** Support product validation through EVT, DVT, and PVT stages. Develop test fixtures, production test procedures, and hardware diagnostic tools. Work with PCB vendors, EMS/ODM partners, component suppliers, and manufacturing teams. Manage BOM, alternative component qualification, ECO/ECN implementation, and product revision control.
**Customer Support:** Support customers during product evaluation, system integration, and deployment. Analyze customer issues related to PCIe compatibility, system stability, performance, power, and thermal behavior. Reproduce issues, collect debug logs, and coordinate solutions with internal teams.
**Documentation:** Write hardware specifications, validation reports, and customer-facing collateral including Hardware Design Guides and Application Notes.
**Requirements:**
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in hardware system, motherboard, add-in card, or module design
- Solid knowledge of PCIe and M.2 interface standards and design guidelines
- Familiarity with SPI, I2C, SMBus, and UART interfaces
- Proficiency with EDA schematic and design tools (OrCAD, Allegro)
- Hands-on expertise with lab equipment (Oscilloscopes, Logic Analyzers) for signal integrity validation and debugging
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and root-cause analysis skills
- Excellent cross-functional communication abilities
**Preferred Qualifications:**
- Experience developing AI accelerator, GPU, NPU, FPGA, PCIe add-in card, or M.2 module products
- Familiarity with PCIe Gen3, Gen4, or Gen5 (link training, LTSSM, enumeration, compatibility debugging)
- Signal integrity or power integrity analysis experience
- Thermal design, power consumption analysis, or thermal validation experience
- Linux environment familiarity and common debugging tools/commands
- Experience with server platforms, embedded systems, edge AI devices, or data center hardware
- Knowledge of product safety, EMI/EMC, reliability, or compliance testing
- Customer technical support, FAE responsibilities, or on-site issue resolution experience
- Ability to communicate technical information in English with overseas customers, suppliers, and business partners
