Anduril Industries is seeking a Sustainment Engineer to support the design, analysis, and production of advanced structural components for the Fury air vehicle platform. This role bridges engineering and manufacturing, focusing on structural repair solutions, production support, and continuous improvement.
You will design and release structural repair solutions for fielded and in-production Fury air vehicles, covering both metallic and composite primary and secondary structures. You'll serve as the on-the-floor liaison engineer for production and sustainment, resolving build issues while protecting configuration and maintaining schedule. Working closely with MRB analysis engineers, you'll translate non-conformance dispositions into manufacturable repair drawings and work instructions.
Key responsibilities include authoring and releasing Engineering Change Requests/Orders (ECRs/ECOs) to improve drawings, models, and specifications based on production feedback. You'll apply design-for-manufacturing and design-for-repair principles to develop cost-effective, easily executable solutions at production rate. You'll analyze recurring production defects and test escapes to identify trends and drive systemic design or process changes that reduce rework, scrap, and cycle time.
You'll coordinate across Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Tooling, and Materials & Processes to develop and refine repair methods, fixtures, and inspection criteria. Day-to-day, you'll provide technical guidance to manufacturing and quality teams on build intent, repair acceptability, and configuration control. Travel up to 25% to vendors, production, and test sites is expected to support hardware builds and troubleshoot issues directly.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience in aircraft structural design, sustainment, or liaison engineering, including hands-on production floor support
- Proficiency in CAD software (Siemens NX or equivalent) for generating repair and production drawings
- Working knowledge of metallic and composite structural design, behavior, and associated fabrication processes (forming, machining, bonding, assembly)
- Experience creating, reviewing, and interpreting engineering drawings, 3D models, and GD&T
- Strong problem-solving skills and experience leading cross-functional root cause and corrective action efforts
- Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with technicians, engineers, and leadership
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
- Ability to travel up to 25% to vendors, production, and test sites
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with MRB authority, non-conformance systems, and configuration management in a regulated aerospace environment
- Prior liaison or production support engineering role working daily with manufacturing and test operations
- Background in design-for-manufacturability, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement for complex assemblies
- Experience with fast-paced prototype design and manufacture of uncrewed aircraft
- Hands-on manufacturing experience
- Practical aircraft knowledge (A&P certification, pilot's license, etc.)
