SingleStore is seeking a Support Engineer to join its technical support team in India. This role is heavily engineering-focused, requiring deep technical expertise to resolve complex database issues for enterprise customers.
You will serve as a frontline technical expert, providing email and live support to customers using SingleStore's distributed SQL database. The work involves investigating database internals, memory allocators, Linux configurations, and SQL query behavior to diagnose and resolve critical issues. You'll collaborate with development teams, query performance engineers, product management, and infrastructure SREs to identify root causes and implement solutions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide technical support to enterprise customers on complex database issues, bug diagnosis, and critical outages
- Identify and reproduce product issues, perform QA, and submit formal bug reports to engineering teams
- Collaborate with software developers, sales engineers, and technical account managers
- Improve support and engineering processes, author runbooks and documentation
- Ensure positive customer experiences across all interactions
The role requires working 11:30 AM – 8:30 PM IST (9 hours), 5 days per week, with participation in on-call rotation including weekends and holidays.
Requirements:
- 4+ years of advanced customer-facing technical support experience
- Experience with MySQL or MySQL-like databases (MariaDB, Aurora, etc.) and SQL query optimization
- Solid Kubernetes and sysadmin skills; hands-on with Linux, system I/O utilization, network throughput measurement, and log file analysis
- Experience with a scripting or coding language (Python, Bash, Go, or similar) for problem-solving and code navigation
- Familiarity with distributed systems and AWS/GCP; understanding of deploying and maintaining distributed applications, with ability to analyze performance bottlenecks
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills; ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences
