Fal is a generative media infrastructure platform powering the next generation of AI products. The company provides high-performance inference, orchestration, and observability tools that enable developers and enterprises to move from idea to production at scale.
You will join a deliberately flat, fast-moving finance team as a strategic finance partner. This is a high-autonomy role where you own problems end-to-end without close management. You will receive ambiguous problems, scope them, decide on approach, gather data, drive to answers, and bring recommendations to leadership.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning parts of company-wide financial planning, forecasting, and budgeting
- Maintaining and extending the bottoms-up revenue model across GTM motions and products, tracking actuals vs. plan, and surfacing insights with recommendations
- Driving FP&A software implementation and other finance systems (ERP, procurement)
- Partnering with accounting and data teams on monthly revenue reporting to ensure product- and customer-level breakdowns are accurate and usable
- Building dashboards that give leadership real-time visibility into key metrics vs. plan and forecast
- Going into raw data (e.g., BigQuery), identifying issues, and driving fixes with the right stakeholders
- Using AI tools to automate recurring financial workflows
The role is built for someone with independent judgment, high agency, and the ability to thrive in a messy, high-autonomy, build-as-you-go environment. You will work directly with senior leaders on strategic, high-priority problems at one of the fastest-growing companies in AI.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 6+ years of experience, ideally investment banking (for rigor and modeling fundamentals) followed by private equity or growth investing where you owned and pitched deals. In-house strategic finance at a high-growth startup is a plus.
- High agency: track record of taking full ownership of ambiguous problems and driving them to resolution without direction or oversight
- Independent thinker: form your own view, make the call, and defend your reasoning
- Deliberate about your career: can explain your choices and why; curious beyond your job description
- Able to read and troubleshoot data and validate metrics independently. Must be able to read a table, find what's wrong, and fix it (SQL writing not required but data literacy essential)
- Working knowledge of accounting concepts (billings, deferred revenue, AR, revenue recognition) and ability to explain them to non-finance stakeholders
- Strong financial modeling: ability to turn complex data into clear, actionable recommendations
- Mature, low-ego, high-urgency mindset; excited to work in a fast-changing AI startup
PREFERRED:
- Experience in AI, cloud, or large-scale computing infrastructure
- Experience implementing a modern FP&A tool
- Track record of building or using AI tools to automate financial workflows
