Extreme Networks, a global leader in cloud-driven networking solutions serving over 50,000 customers, is seeking a Staff Software QA Engineer to lead quality assurance efforts for cloud-based networking applications and services.
In this role, you will own end-to-end test strategy and planning for cloud-native networking products. You will plan, develop, execute, and automate comprehensive test suites covering functional, integration, performance, and scale validations. Your responsibilities include:
• Design and implement end-to-end test automation strategies for cloud-based applications, including API and GUI testing
• Perform functional, integration, performance, and load testing validations
• Collaborate with Product Owners, Development, CloudOps, and cross-functional teams to ensure comprehensive test coverage
• Review customer deployments and address gaps in test coverage based on customer-found issues
• Conduct API testing (functional, security, and performance aspects) with REST protocols
• Perform UI test automation using Selenium or Playwright
• Test enterprise wired and wireless networking protocols (VLAN, IP, STP, TCP, UDP, VRRP, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, IS-IS, SPBM)
• Test security concepts and protocols (AAA framework, 802.1X, Captive portal, VPN, Firewalls, SSL)
• Review automation code written by team members and provide constructive feedback
• Leverage network testing tools such as Wireshark, Ethereal, and JMeter
• Monitor and optimize performance using tools like Grafana and Prometheus
This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you will guide the QA strategy and mentor team members while maintaining deep technical expertise in cloud networking QA.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field
• 8–12 years of QA experience, with 3–12 years specifically in Network Management/Orchestration domain
• Hands-on programming proficiency in Java, Python, ROBOT, Perl, Go, or TCL/TK
• Expert-level API testing skills, including contract testing and automation
• Proficiency in UI automation using Selenium, Robot Framework, and Python
• Advanced performance testing experience with tools such as JMeter and Locust
• Deep understanding of cloud technologies, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and clustering solutions
• Experience with AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure environments
• Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix operating systems
• Proficiency with version control systems (Git, GitHub)
• Experience with SQL/NoSQL/in-memory databases (PostgreSQL, Redis, Ignite)
• Knowledge of monitoring tools (Grafana, Prometheus)
• Strong debugging skills in microservices-oriented architecture
• Excellent analytical and communication skills
• Exposure to AI, Machine Learning, and related tools preferred
• Knowledge of virtualization and hypervisors (ESX, Hyper-V) preferred
