Phantom is a global fintech platform enabling tens of millions of users to access open financial markets including perpetuals, prediction markets, tokenized assets, stablecoins, and memes. The company has achieved #1 ranking in Google Play's finance category and is backed by $150M Series C funding from a16z, Sequoia Capital, and Paradigm. With ~180 fully remote employees, Phantom is building infrastructure to support self-custody and access to decentralized networks.
As a Staff Software Engineer in Site Reliability Engineering, you will own critical infrastructure systems that power Phantom's platform. Your responsibilities include managing and scaling Kubernetes clusters on AWS EKS with a focus on reliability, performance, and security. You will implement and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform or Pulumi to automate provisioning and management across the organization. You'll optimize system performance and resource utilization while monitoring and scaling database infrastructure to handle terabytes of blockchain data efficiently.
A key aspect of this role is blockchain infrastructure ownership—configuring and maintaining crypto nodes across multiple blockchains to support wallet operations. You will continuously improve system uptime, monitoring, and observability using tools like Datadog and OpenTelemetry. This is a collaborative role where you'll work closely with backend and product teams to support feature development and system scaling.
This is a high-impact position for an experienced infrastructure engineer who thrives in a fully remote environment and wants to shape the reliability and scalability of a platform used by tens of millions globally.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years in a SRE or Software Engineer role
- Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes (EKS) in production environments
- Proficiency with AWS infrastructure and services (EC2, S3, RDS, IAM)
- Solid experience with Docker and Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform or Pulumi)
- Monitoring and observability experience using tools like Datadog or OpenTelemetry
