Huntress, founded in 2015 by former NSA cyber operators, is a remote-first cybersecurity company making enterprise-grade security accessible to businesses of all sizes. The company operates a 24/7 human-led Security Operations Center (SOC) and now secures over 5M endpoints and 16M identities worldwide. You will join the SOC Experience team as a Staff Software Engineer, providing technical leadership across the analyst-facing side of the Huntress SOC platform. This includes the investigation and triage experience analysts use to work cases, remediation actions, work queues that route and prioritize incoming work, and customer-facing reporting. Your contributions will help improve analyst efficiency, reduce operational toil, and drive customer outcomes as the company scales protection for mid-market and smaller organizations. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will shape architecture and design direction, convert ambiguous requirements into functional workflows and data models, raise the bar on code quality and testing, and mentor engineers across the team. You'll partner closely with Product, UX, and SOC stakeholders to turn operational pain points into reliable, auditable systems. This is a full-stack role with significant front-end responsibility: the analyst experiences you build are data-dense, interactive interfaces, and you'll set quality standards for both front-end and back-end work. Key responsibilities include providing technical leadership across the SOC Experience surface area; designing and building analyst-facing interfaces end-to-end from data model to browser; setting standards for engineering excellence through code review, test plan review, and hands-on pairing; leading security-by-design reviews; owning the full lifecycle of systems including evolution, configuration, and risk management; sharing ownership of delivery, reliability, and uptime with observability and test automation built in; mentoring engineers to help them grow; and balancing technical rigor with pragmatism. Requirements: - 10+ years of experience developing complex software products - 5+ years of programming in Ruby on Rails - Strong front-end fundamentals (JavaScript, HTML, CSS) and experience building complex interactive UIs with modern component-based frameworks (current stack uses Hotwire, Turbo, and Stimulus) - Experience with AWS or other public cloud environments and Linux-based infrastructure - Experience with relational databases such as Postgres - Experience with AI coding tools such as Claude Code Preferred qualifications: - Experience with ClickHouse - Experience building cybersecurity products or building/operating SOC platforms - Experience with Hotwire, Stimulus, Turbo
