Bugcrowd is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead technical efforts on external attack surface management technology. You will own system architecture and development across the full stack, exercising high discretion over technical decisions to achieve business outcomes.
You will build technology that constructs a comprehensive picture of target organizations from the outside—domains, hosts, software, people, registrations, and documents. Your core responsibility is to own the system layer that transforms raw data into trustworthy facts: what was observed, what was inferred, data provenance, and human-validated conclusions. You will architect a general framework for passive intelligence gathering, making it straightforward to integrate new data sources (target: one week per new source, not a complete rebuild).
This is a full-stack role combining frontend (React/Next.js), backend (TypeScript, databases), and security domain expertise. You will work in a hybrid environment, primarily remote with some onsite presence in Huntsville.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 7+ years of software development experience
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript and modern JavaScript
- Extensive experience with React and JavaScript web frameworks (Next.js preferred)
- Familiarity with OAuth2, JWT, and authentication/authorization frameworks
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and cloud deployment (Vercel, AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Experience with ORM frameworks and relational databases (Prisma, Drizzle, PostgreSQL)
- Excellent debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Cybersecurity knowledge: penetration testing, OSINT, red teaming
- Active secret security clearance (REQUIRED)
PREFERRED:
- Hands-on experience with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) and AI application development
- Familiarity with AI orchestration frameworks and agent-based systems
