Salary: USD 200,000 - 220,000 / annual

Privacy.com's 35-person team sits within Lithic's 170+ person organization spanning 26 states and 7 countries, headquartered in NYC.
You will join as a Staff Software Engineer to scale the platform to meet significant growth from strong product-market fit. This is a hybrid role combining hands-on coding with technical leadership. You'll split time between shipping code and demonstrating technical leadership in evolving the platform for scale.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ensure high reliability and correctness for Privacy.com card processing
- Understand current system challenges and propose step-function architectural changes
- Drive large multi-month initiatives and roadmap planning
- Ensure the team delivers reliable, secure, and scalable code
- Lead efforts to improve systems and processes within the team and across engineering
- Drive strategic planning in collaboration with engineering, product, and cross-functional leaders
- Make tradeoffs between long-term investment and immediate product value
- Participate in team on-call rotations
You'll become an expert in card payments, solve distributed systems problems at scale, make architectural and product decisions, and mentor other engineers. The team is distributed across the US and Europe. The tech stack is predominantly Node.js, DocumentDB, and AWS.
Requirements:
- 8+ years of experience shipping code in a fast-paced production environment
- Experience building event-based and advanced distributed systems
- Strong sense of ownership and accountability for your work
- Technical lead experience for a small team
- Driven large multi-month migration/re-architecting projects
- Experience mentoring and coaching other engineers on distributed systems patterns and best practices
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams (designers, PMs, operations)
- Excellent communication skills and enthusiasm for learning
