Wayve is building embodied AI that enables vehicles to drive safely and autonomously anywhere. The Platform Integration team within Robot Software owns early vehicle software integration, drive-by-wire systems, and vehicle-facing software drivers. You'll work across software, hardware, controls, and operations to bring up new vehicle variants, improve reliability, and establish repeatable validation and handover processes. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will lead the team's integration architecture and mentor engineers while staying hands-on with development and vehicle bring-up. Your responsibilities include: - Lead integration architecture and author design documents defining interfaces, evaluating trade-offs, and guiding implementation across vehicle programs - Partner with the Engineering Manager to shape the technical roadmap, balancing program delivery with architectural improvements, tooling, and maintainability - Unblock complex integration challenges across application software, middleware, operating systems, networks, and hardware - Mentor engineers through design discussions, code reviews, and hands-on debugging to build technical judgment and independence - Represent Platform Integration in technical discussions across Robot Software, aligning with other technical leads on interfaces and dependencies - Develop and review production software, establishing patterns that reduce bespoke work and improve reuse - Lead bench, hardware-in-the-loop (HiL), and vehicle investigations to resolve uncertainty and validate designs - Turn lessons from bring-up and field issues into better diagnostics, integration practices, documentation, and validation You'll work on integration architecture for new vehicle programs across embedded compute, sensors, vehicle interfaces, networks, and software services. This includes shared vehicle-facing components and abstractions supporting multiple hardware configurations, system-level integration of Linux-based robotic and automotive platforms with multi-process and distributed architectures, sensor integration and calibration, vehicle communication interfaces (CAN, Automotive Ethernet, drive-by-wire), integration with automotive compute platforms (NVIDIA DRIVE, Qualcomm Snapdragon Ride), and bench/HiL/vehicle validation strategies. Wayve operates a hybrid model with main hubs in London, Sunnyvale, Yokohama, Herzliya, Vancouver, and Leonberg. The company offers relocation support, visa sponsorship, learning and development budgets, comprehensive benefits including health insurance, dental, enhanced parental leave, retirement/pension, and access to wellbeing resources. REQUIREMENTS: - Substantial experience integrating autonomous vehicles or similarly complex robotic systems, with deep practical understanding of how software, compute, sensors, networks, and actuators interact - Led architecture and delivery for complex integration work, making sound technical decisions across software and hardware boundaries - Strong software-development skills in C++, Rust, or comparable systems languages, with experience delivering production-quality software on Linux-based robotic, embedded, or automotive platforms - Ability to turn ambiguous requirements into clear designs, interfaces, and implementation plans that other engineers can execute - Track record of resolving difficult system-level problems through systematic investigation, on-target testing, and strong understanding of underlying technology - Understanding of ROS2 or similar middleware, distributed-system integration, and practical realities of vehicle bring-up - Demonstrated track record of raising technical capability of teams through mentoring, design reviews, and engineering standards - Ability to influence technical decisions across teams and work with engineering management to connect architecture, delivery priorities, and long-term investment Particularly valuable: experience delivering integrations across multiple vehicle or compute platforms, working with OEMs or hardware suppliers, developing reusable integration frameworks, drive-by-wire systems, HiL testing, functional safety, and fleet reliability.
