SonarSource is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the Billing Squad within the StoreFront department. The Billing squad is a cross-functional, fast-growing team responsible for enabling the release of new products and managing innovative, usage-based pricing models for Sonar's AI code verification platform.
In this role, you will partner closely with Product Managers, Engineering Managers, and other Staff/Principal Engineers to lead end-to-end delivery of critical billing features. You will take full ownership from architecture and design through implementation and deployment of major initiatives, ensuring a secure and frictionless experience for millions of developers.
Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with UX designers, Product Management, and engineering teams to deliver robust security features alongside optimal user experience
- Working cross-functionally with product squads and go-to-market teams to ensure smooth release of new features and products
- Taking strong ownership of squad deliverables and driving sprints toward successful completion
- Architecting and guiding the design of on-premises and AWS cloud applications
- Overseeing feature deployment, production monitoring, and troubleshooting team-specific live issues
- Mentoring engineering team members to help them grow in technical responsibilities and remove blockers to their autonomy
- Contributing to the definition of the team's short and long-term goals

The role requires in-office presence on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays at the Geneva hub. Candidates must be genuinely based in Geneva or willing to relocate.
Requirements:
- Over 6 years of software engineering experience, including working as a Tech Lead, Staff Engineer, or Software Architect
- Proven ability to take initiative and bring complex projects involving multiple stakeholders and engineers to completion with minimal supervision
- Proficiency in working with and steering AI coding tools (Codex, Claude, etc.)
- Experience supporting and mentoring other team members
- Proficiency with Java coupled with a strong passion for Clean Code and rigorous software quality standards
- Experience architecting cloud-native applications
- Experience with relational RDBMS (such as Postgres) and SQL
- Domain expertise with billing and payment processing systems (Stripe experience) and/or general experience with subscription management is highly desirable
