Alluxio is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the evolution of its distributed data services platform. In this role, you will own the technical direction of core systems handling distributed data services, memory and data structure efficiency, thread concurrency, locking optimizations, and caching policies. Key responsibilities include: - Developing innovative solutions for scaling systems to thousands of nodes while ensuring data durability and high availability - Leading team members from concept through completion on complex distributed systems challenges - Contributing to product architecture and implementing technical direction in collaboration with product management - Solving challenging problems in distributed systems, memory efficiency, concurrency, and caching This is a technical leadership role where you will guide the technical strategy and implementation of Alluxio's core platform, working on problems at scale in distributed data infrastructure. REQUIREMENTS: - At least 1–2 years in a technical leadership role - BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience - Software development experience in one or more of: Java, C/C++, Go - Demonstrated experience with two or more of the following: distributed and parallel systems, distributed storage systems, architecting large-scale software systems, security software development - Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills - Working proficiency in English (verbal and written) PREFERRED: - Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field - Proficiency in multiple general-purpose programming languages - Experience contributing to or maintaining open source projects - Prior contributions to Alluxio - Ability to work in fast-paced, collaborative, iterative environments
