The company is venture-backed (raised $28M+ from Khosla Ventures and others), headquartered in San Francisco, and operates with a remote-first culture.
In this role, you will serve as a core architect working on Kubernetes internals to build tools used by leading engineering teams. You will own end-to-end feature development from technical design through release, write high-performance Go code powering the platform's core logic, and engage with the open-source community to define next-generation tenancy models for container orchestration.
Key responsibilities include:
- Deep work with Kubernetes internals, pushing the boundaries of container orchestration and multi-tenancy
- High-performance Go development for the vCluster platform
- Full ownership of features from design to release with minimal oversight
- Open-source contributions and community engagement
- Solving hard systems-architecture problems that require deep technical understanding
vCluster Labs powers over 100,000 GPUs and 1 million CPUs across 50+ AI clouds and Fortune 500 companies. The platform is built on vCluster, open-source technology with 11,000+ GitHub stars and 40M+ tenant clusters created since 2021. The team consists of 40+ infrastructure engineers who build alongside customers.
Requirements:
- Deep expertise in Kubernetes internals (architectural patterns, networking, storage)
- Strong Go programming skills with ability to write clean, efficient code
- Builder mindset: active GitHub projects, experiments, or open-source contributions demonstrating passion for building
- High agency and self-driven approach; comfortable identifying and solving problems autonomously
- Experience in high-growth, early-stage environments with comfort for ambiguity
Bonus qualifications:
- Contributions to the Kubernetes project upstream (documentation, PRs, SIG participation)
- Experience at early-stage organizations functioning autonomously
