Seeds is an early-stage RIA fintech startup empowering financial advisors to grow their businesses while delivering meaningful investing experiences to clients. The company operates as a remote-first organization with a mission to reshape the $6.6+ trillion wealth management industry.
You will join as a Staff Software Engineer reporting directly to the CTO, owning cross-cutting technical problems that span multiple systems and workstreams. This is a hands-on role where you'll take unclear goals through to production, set technical patterns for the engineering team, and continue building features yourself.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning complex problems from framing through production, turning multi-system goals into executable plans for other engineers
- Building across the full stack (C# / .NET Core backend, React / TypeScript frontend, PostgreSQL, AWS)
- Making architectural decisions when the problem itself is unclear, making trade-offs explicit to stakeholders
- Establishing patterns and standards that other engineers build upon (service design, testing strategy, shared frameworks)
- Designing systems for long-term maintainability with reliability, observability, and security for a regulated financial-services business
- Shaping the technical roadmap with product and business teams, surfacing options, costs, and risks early
- Anticipating domain and regulatory complexity in investment, advisor, and trading systems
- Mentoring and developing other engineers through design reviews, pairing, and cross-workstream collaboration
- Working fluently with AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code) as an enhancement to engineering judgment
The tech stack is .NET Core / C# backend, React / TypeScript frontend, PostgreSQL data layer, and AWS infrastructure. You'll work closely with product, design, investments, and engineers across all workstreams.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Substantial experience building and shipping production systems (typically 8+ years), including work you owned across several systems or teams from first design to production
- Deep expertise in at least one part of a modern full stack, with effectiveness across the rest (C# / .NET Core, React / TypeScript, PostgreSQL, AWS, or comparable depth in another ecosystem)
- Deep, demonstrated expertise in at least one specialized area: cloud architecture and infrastructure on AWS or comparable cloud; agentic software development where agents perform production engineering work under guardrails and evaluation; or building AI capabilities into a product platform
- A record of setting patterns other engineers adopted (frameworks, standards, platform pieces that teams continued building on)
- Strong architecture judgment demonstrated in services that remained easy to change years after design
- A record of turning unclear goals into written plans that other engineers could execute
- Fluency with AI-assisted development, building with agents like Claude Code daily, with a point of view on where they help and a high bar for what you ship
- Excellent cross-functional communication, including written design proposals and explaining trade-offs to non-technical partners
- Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent demonstrated experience
BONUS:
- Financial services, FinTech, or wealth-tech experience
- Comfort in regulated contexts (SOC 2)
- Experience modernizing legacy applications or leading large migrations
- Startup experience
