Backed by top-tier investors including Google Ventures, Insight Partners, and General Catalyst, Sanas works with Fortune 100 companies and is expanding beyond contact centers into telecom and enterprise communication.
You will join as a Staff Software Engineer—a senior individual contributor role focused on setting technical direction across multiple teams. You'll own the hardest cross-cutting problems: the architecture of a platform that runs in live conversations, reliability and latency at production scale, and developer velocity across Desktop App, SDK, Voice Gateway, and Portal.
Key responsibilities:
- Set technical direction and define architecture across client (Desktop App/SDK), gateway, and cloud backend systems
- Balance near-term customer delivery against long-term scalability as the platform expands
- Own real-time performance: treat end-to-end latency, audio quality, CPU/memory footprint, and uptime as first-class requirements
- Lead cross-team initiatives spanning SDK, backend, ML inference, and DevOps
- Write and review production code, prototype new approaches, and debug across client, backend, and deployment layers
- Document technical decisions via design docs and architecture decision records
- Establish best practices for code quality, testing, observability, security, and operational excellence
- Mentor senior and mid-level engineers; shape interview and leveling processes
- Partner with Product, Research/ML, Customer Success, and leadership to shape roadmap and surface technical risks
This is a hands-on role where you stay in the code while multiplying the impact of engineers around you. Your architectural decisions will shape how the platform scales as Sanas expands into new verticals.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field
- 8–12+ years of professional software engineering experience, including significant time at senior or staff level
- Track record of designing and shipping large-scale, low-latency systems that served real users in production
- Deep expertise in one or more of: Rust, Python, GoLang; strong command of distributed systems and RESTful API design
- Hands-on experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes (preferably EKS), CI/CD, and modern observability tooling
- Familiarity with PostgreSQL and ClickHouse
- Ability to lead through influence: align stakeholders, resolve technical disagreements, drive outcomes without formal authority
- Clear written and verbal communication; ability to explain complex tradeoffs to engineers and non-technical partners
- Sound judgment about when to build for the long term vs. ship pragmatically
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with real-time audio, speech, VoIP/SIP, WebRTC, or telephony systems
- Experience productionizing ML inference on-device or in cloud with tight latency budgets
- Cross-platform desktop application or SDK development experience
- Kafka or other event-driven platforms; Terraform or infrastructure-as-code tools
- Scaling a system through order-of-magnitude load increase at a high-growth startup
- Exposure to enterprise security and compliance (SOC 2, ISO 27001)
- Rapid high-quality code development with AI copilots (Claude) using spec-driven methods
- Open source contributions, technical writing, or conference talks
