Casca is building AI-native banking technology to replace legacy systems and automate 90% of manual banking work. This Staff Software Engineer role is a high-impact individual contributor position with significant technical leadership responsibilities. You will spend approximately 70% of your time writing high-quality code and 30% collaborating with stakeholders and mentoring team members. Key responsibilities include: - Drive architectural decisions that balance long-term stability with the pace required by a fast-growing banking platform. You will identify critical paths and make high-stakes technical calls to keep the organization moving efficiently. - Maintain a strong individual contribution while unblocking the wider team through technical alignment and clear communication. - Lead development of complex initiatives by chunking and sequencing work to maximize parallelization and maintain high throughput. - Mentor team members both directly and by example, helping others reach their potential and driving engineering best practices. - Build SaaS applications that balance complexity, quality, and speed of delivery, leveraging strong pattern recognition to optimize for customer value. - Lead initiatives to improve system reliability and predictability through refined controls and communication channels, using data to prioritize high-impact work. The tech stack includes TypeScript, React, NextJS, Postgres with Prisma, Python, and AWS. Casca is an early-stage company working with high intensity, particularly during major launches and high-impact sprints. The role demands flexibility and commitment during periods of focused execution. REQUIREMENTS: - 7+ years of software engineering experience with a track record of delivering significant projects in fast-paced, production SaaS environments - Holistic understanding of web architectures and comfort navigating broad systems - Ability to thrive in high-velocity environments and make decisions under pressure - Quality-first mentality with a bias for action; ability to identify trade-offs between "doing it right" and "doing it now" - Deep expertise in modern programming languages and web application frameworks - Strong competence in data modeling for relational databases and distributed cloud platforms - Experience in regulated industries (Fintech or Healthcare) is a nice-to-have - Instinctive design for security, reliability, and compliance - Strategic problem-solving ability to drive high-level business goals to technical solutions independently
