Snowflake is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the development of AI-native authoring experiences within Snowsight, the company's data analytics platform. This is a high-impact technical leadership role where you'll own significant product areas end-to-end, from architecture through delivery, with responsibility for service health, quality, and customer experience. You will act as a deep domain expert and technical leader across the full stack (Go, React, Java), driving large cross-team projects from conception to completion. A key aspect of this role is leveraging agentic AI to accelerate both your work and the team's productivity, while setting the standard for how the organization builds with AI. You'll partner closely with design and product management to identify opportunities, make principled trade-offs, and deliver solutions that balance correctness, cost, and customer impact. As a senior technical leader, you'll mentor engineers, raise the bar through code and design reviews, and develop expertise in others. You'll anticipate customer needs, translate them into product plans, identify systemic issues affecting reliability, and work across teams to deliver enduring solutions. You'll contribute strongly to product vision and drive multi-quarter team planning, all while building fast, scalable products. This role operates as a startup within Snowflake, with an emphasis on rapid iteration, daily shipping, and continuous experimentation. You'll help redefine how people across the world turn data into knowledge and knowledge into opportunities. REQUIREMENTS: - 10+ years of hands-on software development experience, including significant full-stack development with responsive design expertise. Bonus: shipped mobile experiences leveraging AI. - Demonstrated track record of leading large or very complex projects spanning multiple teams, with a clear pattern of driving them to successful outcomes. - Deep understanding of modern web application architecture, API design patterns, security, performance, and scale; ability to make principled trade-offs across these dimensions. - Expertise in at least one significant area of a complex product, with broad enough technical range to contribute meaningfully outside your primary area. - Strong technical leadership: comfort with ambiguity, using data and analysis to drive decisions and build consensus, proactively identifying and solving problems with limited oversight. - Track record of developing expertise in others—mentoring senior and junior engineers, leveling up teams, and being sought out for hard problems. - Strong written, verbal, and technical communication skills; ability to work effectively across engineering, product, and design. - Knowledge of data development tools, data infrastructure, or ML is a plus. - Commitment to excellence, undaunted by ambiguity, motivated to drive impact on the most important problems.
