As a Staff Software Engineer on the AI and Data Risk team based in Dublin (with London as a secondary hub), you will be an early engineering hire driving the expansion of privacy and data risk features. You'll work across product management, design, and a growing engineering team to identify and execute strategic technical initiatives that scale Vanta's platform and set the standard for engineering excellence.
Key responsibilities:
- Identify, scope, and lead large technical projects (6+ months) that enable core products to evolve into highly performant, reliable, and customizable systems
- Design, develop, and own new product functionality and infrastructure using TypeScript, React, and Node.js
- Make effective tradeoffs balancing business priorities, user experience, and technical sustainability
- Assist in recruiting, hiring, and onboarding engineering teammates across the UK and Ireland
- Act as a cultural beacon, mentoring junior engineers and modeling collaborative, excellent engineering practices
You'll be part of Vanta's rapid scaling phase, with opportunities to shape both product direction and engineering culture. The role offers exposure to both startup agility and enterprise-scale challenges.
Requirements:
- Minimum 10 years of industry experience as a software engineer
- Proven track record as a technical lead on large projects (6+ months), including defining roadmaps for complex, multi-team initiatives
- Experience building successful SaaS products for both startup and enterprise users
- Prior startup experience or work in environments prioritizing bias for action
- Demonstrated ability to uplevel engineering teams through mentoring and leadership by example
- Experience at rapidly scaling startups and large companies
- Openness to using AI responsibly to amplify skills and strengthen work; demonstrated curiosity and sound judgment in AI application
