Zscaler is seeking a Staff Software Development Engineer to join the Zscaler Client Connector team within the Zero Trust Exchange department. The Client Connector is a critical component that protects corporate devices by securely routing traffic through Zscaler's global network of 200+ public data centers, enabling advanced web filtering and Zero Trust policy enforcement.
In this role, you will design and implement high-performance, low-complexity networking code predominantly using Rust, with exposure to platform-native languages and APIs. You'll work across multiple desktop platforms (macOS, Windows, and potentially iOS/Android) to build solid, testable, and well-documented foundations that improve code quality at scale. Your work will involve debugging complex network-related problems, implementing solutions using systems programming and security protocols, and contributing significantly to the design of major development projects.
As a Staff Engineer, you will collaborate closely with product managers and cross-functional teams to implement customer-impacting features. You'll tackle stimulating problems born from the scale of Zscaler's deployment and the stringent quality, performance, and security requirements of the Zero Trust Exchange platform. Your responsibilities include designing and implementing high-performance networking code, building testable foundations, debugging complex network issues, contributing to major project design, and communicating proactively to solve scale, quality, performance, and security challenges.
