Shape the high-speed interfaces and silicon sub-systems behind Graphcore's next AI acceleration platforms.
As a Staff SoC Architect in Bristol, you will translate product requirements into specifications for complex, highly integrated, high-performance silicon devices. You will own sub-system architecture, modelling, validation and evaluation, connecting early design choices with practical implementation. Your work will determine how critical components integrate together, balancing product needs with implementation trade-offs to support specialized compute that enables AI innovators to tackle more demanding problems.
Key responsibilities include:
- Translating product requirements into detailed silicon sub-system specifications
- Owning architecture, modelling, validation and evaluation of complex SoC sub-systems
- Assessing third-party hard and soft IP and specifying integration across the platform
- Working with vendors to evaluate options and check implementation correctness
- Contributing to silicon bring-up, characterization and evaluation
- Representing the architecture team in cross-functional working groups
- Resolving complex technical bugs and improving engineering processes
- Mentoring engineers and sharing architectural judgement
You will report to the Director of Silicon Architecture and work closely with processor, SoC and system architects, silicon design, verification, hardware and software engineers. Your contribution extends beyond specification documents—you will see how architectural decisions play out in working silicon and deepen your understanding of AI acceleration through hands-on involvement.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or related subject
- Solid understanding of computer and SoC architecture
- Experience writing clear technical specifications
- Knowledge of RTL development and verification processes
- Ability to explain design choices clearly and work across engineering teams
- Confidence working across programming languages with initiative to take ownership of technical problems
- Legal right to work in the UK (visa sponsorship not available)
