Salary: USD 149,800 - 262,200 / annual
ServiceNow is seeking a Staff Site Reliability Engineer to join the Federal SRE Team supporting the US Public Sector. This is a 3rd shift position (11 p.m. - 10 a.m. PT, Sunday-Wednesday, 10-hour 4-day work week) with no on-call rotation and shift bonuses for 2nd/3rd shifts.
The SRE team maintains and develops the reliability, scalability, and performance of ServiceNow's Government Community Cloud infrastructure, providing 24x7 production support across three shifts. You will be empowered to drive technical resolutions across the full technology stack—from hardware through application—combining software development, networking, and systems engineering expertise. The role focuses on improving platform operability, reducing incident frequency, and lowering mean time to recovery (MTTR).
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing relief and sustainable resolution to infrastructure issues
- Using software development, systems engineering, and networking experience to proactively prevent repeatable issues
- Driving initiatives with partner teams to improve reliability and performance through improved system design
- Fostering a culture of automation to eliminate manual activity and deliver scalable solutions
- Leading monitoring and automation initiatives
You should have a passion for DevOps, automation, scripting, and troubleshooting complex problems at scale. The ideal candidate smiles when solving infrastructure issues remotely and has accumulated years of experience in IT Operations, Software Development, or Systems Engineering.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years with a Master's degree; or PhD with 3 years experience; or equivalent
- Deep knowledge of Linux systems
- 2+ years of DevOps automation, CI/CD pipeline, and agile methodologies
- 2+ years of Cloud technologies experience, preferably Azure
- 2+ years of coding in various languages (Python, JavaScript, Ruby preferred)
- Postgres and MySQL database administration, troubleshooting, and performance tuning
- Expertise in observability and monitoring of applications, services, and networks at scale
- Networking skills including IP addressing and routing
- Experience leveraging or critically thinking about how to integrate AI into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving
- US citizenship, US naturalized citizenship, or US Permanent Resident status (green card holder) required
- Must pass USFedPASS (US Federal Personnel Authorization Screening Standards) including credit check, criminal/misdemeanor check, and drug test
