As a Staff Site Reliability Engineer, you will play a foundational role on the newly established SRE team at Legora's NYC engineering hub. This is a high-impact position where you'll own multi-team reliability and infrastructure architecture, drive cross-functional initiatives, and establish operational excellence standards across the platform while partnering closely with teams in Stockholm.
Key responsibilities include:
- Architect and own reliability and infrastructure strategy across multiple teams and services
- Own observability, capacity planning, and monitoring strategy for complex distributed systems
- Define and evolve SLI/SLO frameworks, error budgets, and production readiness standards organization-wide
- Lead incident management practices, escalation design, and drive systemic improvements from post-mortems
- Champion toil reduction, on-call sustainability, and long-term system resilience
- Partner across engineering to lead design reviews and raise the bar on deployment safety and operational quality
This is a 5-day in-office role based in Union Square, NYC. Legora values mission-driven impact, direct feedback, and ownership over titles.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Deep experience operating, designing, and improving large-scale production systems
- Proven track record as a technical leader who drives reliability outcomes across teams, not just within your own
- Strong architectural judgment for distributed systems: understanding of failure modes, scalability, and graceful degradation
- Effective communicator who spreads knowledge through post-mortems, runbooks, and design guidance
