Salary: USD 258,000 - 310,000 / annual

You will serve as a technical anchor for Garner's security function, leading technical design reviews and ensuring security posture scales with rapid customer growth. This is a critical role responsible for defining security standards that protect sensitive healthcare data while maintaining high engineering velocity.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead technical security design and review processes for security-critical systems, ensuring all new features meet high standards for data protection and resilience
- Maintain mastery of one or more technical security domains (Cloud Security, AppSec, Data) to solve complex business and technical challenges
- Identify inefficient technical paths and proactively redirect efforts for higher ROI
- Create and implement advanced tools and automation for security monitoring and incident response
- Translate broad, complex security objectives into well-defined deliverables and architectural requirements for the engineering team
- Mentor through technical rigor, providing high-level feedback during code and design reviews to foster security-first development culture
The ideal candidate demonstrates exceptional technical judgment with proven ability to make high-stakes decisions that improve long-term security posture. You leverage context and data to analyze root causes and prioritize security initiatives with greatest impact. You build strong relationships across the organization, conveying complex security risks clearly to both technical and non-technical partners. You continuously identify creative solutions to pay down technical debt and improve security infrastructure efficiency. You handle complex escalations and security incidents with discipline and rigorous analysis. You are mission-driven, operate with intense urgency, demonstrate individual accountability, and commit to authentic feedback.
The company uses Python, Kubernetes, Snowflake, AWS, Terraform, Wiz, Cyberhaven, and related technologies. The role is headquartered in NYC but available for remote work with occasional travel to HQ.
