Form Energy is hiring a Staff Process Engineer to join the Advanced Manufacturing Cathode Engineering team, leading the scaling of production for iron-air battery systems. This is a technical leadership role focused on developing and deploying critical processing systems for long-duration energy storage.
You will drive Design For Manufacturing efforts for cathode performance and durability, working across product development, process engineering, and high-volume manufacturing. Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams on Design For Manufacturing initiatives
- Identifying optimal processing windows using existing and novel technologies to meet product and operational requirements
- Supporting development of materials characterization and metrology methods
- Leading design, procurement, commissioning, and process development for new manufacturing lines
- Conducting root-cause and failure mode analysis in partnership with Development, Quality, Operations, and Maintenance teams
You will mentor engineering teams in process improvement and industrial best practices, bridging the gap between product requirements and high-volume execution. The role is based at Form Factory 1 in Weirton, WV (near Pittsburgh), a 550,000-square-foot facility serving as the hub for high-volume battery production. Relocation assistance is available.

REQUIREMENTS:
- 7+ years of experience in fast-paced manufacturing or production development environments
- Demonstrated mastery in materials processing, particularly in lamination or sintering
- Advanced proficiency with statistical methods for process development (JMP, Minitab, or equivalent)
- High-level proficiency with SQL data queries
- Extensive experience leading multidisciplinary projects and mentoring engineering teams
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Material Science Engineering, or equivalent
- Ability to travel less than 10%
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
