Relativity Space is building Terran R, a commercial launch vehicle designed to deliver customer payloads to orbit. The Stage Manufacturing team owns the build of Terran R's primary structures, combining advanced manufacturing techniques (including 3D printing) with traditional aerospace assembly processes.
As Staff Manufacturing Engineer for Primary Structures, you will serve as a technical leader and individual contributor on the manufacturing team, bridging design and production. Your responsibilities include:
• Provide Design for Manufacturing (DFM) feedback to structures engineering teams during development, prototype builds, and flight production.
• Collaborate with design engineers, manufacturing specialists, reliability engineers, internal production teams, and external vendors to solve complex assembly challenges.
• Cover shop floor operations for primary structure work centers, clearing barriers and maintaining production momentum with real-time problem-solving and risk disposition.
• Champion process improvements across multiple work centers, incorporating learnings from early Terran R builds to optimize assembly operations and scale.
• Create and standardize work instructions, specifications, and best practices across high-fidelity manufacturing processes.
This is a high-impact role in a fast-moving aerospace company where you'll directly influence how rockets are built at scale. You'll work in a collaborative environment with autonomy to shape manufacturing strategy and see your contributions come to life in record time.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor's degree in manufacturing, aeronautical, mechanical engineering, or related engineering discipline.
• 8+ years of progressive, related manufacturing or aerospace engineering experience.
• Strong history supporting complicated assembly builds with proven ability to make risk decisions and disposition issues during production to keep work moving.
• Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to interface with engineering and manufacturing groups to understand process constraints and provide design inputs for manufacturability.
• Strong engineering fundamentals in statics, mechanics of materials, process improvement/factory design, fastening and joining, and machining.
• Expert knowledge of drilling and trim operations, manufacturing processes, tools, inspection methods, and GD&T.
NICE TO HAVES:
• Direct experience with forming, welding, drill, trim, and fastening operations for aerospace products.
• New product introduction experience bringing aerospace hardware systems into manufacturing, test, and production environments.
• Project management experience in fast-paced environments.
