Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking an experienced Staff Hardware Engineer to join the Voyager team in Dublin. This is a specialized schematic design role focused on the early, conceptual stages of electronic design—not a generalist hardware position.
You will serve as the "schematic architect," owning the blueprint and front-end design of next-generation computing and communications solutions for network edge applications. While you'll understand the full hardware lifecycle, your core mission is to lead schematic design, create robust architectures, and make critical design decisions. You will have high autonomy and the opportunity to take design ownership of a key new project launching later this year.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead schematic design and capture for new and existing hardware platforms, primarily using Cadence OrCAD
- Own front-end hardware architecture, including component research, selection, and block-level system design
- Design, simulate (SPICE), and validate robust analogue and power supply circuits (SMPS, DC-DC, LDOs) to ensure system reliability
- Collaborate closely with PCB layout engineers to ensure design intent is correctly implemented, guaranteeing signal and power integrity
- Define and execute Design Verification Testing (DVT) plans to ensure products meet stringent performance and compliance standards
- Perform hands-on debugging, testing, and root-cause analysis of hardware prototypes in the lab
- Compile and manage accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and support transition from design to manufacturing
The role emphasizes deep expertise in schematic design and capture for complex digital and analogue systems, with a focus on system-level architecture and early-stage design leadership.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in electronic product design with demonstrated focus on system-level architecture
- Deep, proven expertise in schematic design and capture for complex digital and analogue systems (most critical skill)
- Proven experience with analogue, power supply (SMPS, LDO), and circuit protection design
- Proficiency with high-end ECAD toolchain (Cadence Allegro/OrCAD preferred) and circuit simulation tools (PSpice, LTspice)
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or closely related discipline
- Exceptional communication skills and collaborative mindset with proven ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong appreciation for PCB layout best practices, including high-speed signal integrity and power integrity principles
- Experience with high-speed digital design (x86 architectures, DDR, PCIe)
- Experience working in defense, networking, or high-reliability hardware sectors
- Working knowledge of Linux environments
- Familiarity with designing for electrical and environmental compliance (CE, FCC, RoHS, REACH)
