Salary: USD 200,000 - 250,000 / annual

As a Staff Engineer in Trust, Safety & Risk, you will architect and build systems that safeguard users, products, and the platform. This is a full-stack role with high agency and ownership, requiring exceptional technical judgment, product taste, and the ability to navigate complex, high-stakes situations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Fraud Prevention: Design and operate real-time risk controls and decisioning systems for ACH, debit cards, onramps, off-ramps, and money movement experiences.
- Scam & Abuse Detection: Develop signals, models, and product interventions to identify malicious wallets, transactions, applications, and user behavior.
- Identity & Compliance Infrastructure: Build scalable KYC, sanctions screening, transaction monitoring, case management, and audit systems.
- Data & Intelligence: Create pipelines and tools combining on-chain activity, product data, and third-party signals into actionable risk insights.
- Product Safety: Partner with product and engineering teams to design safeguards into new features without compromising user experience.
- Operational Tooling: Build internal tools for Risk, Compliance, Support, and Security teams to investigate incidents and take action efficiently.
- Team Building: Help establish technical foundations and engineering culture for this new, high-impact function.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
- 8+ years of full-time software engineering experience
- Experience designing and operating reliable, data-intensive production systems
- Strong product judgment and ability to balance user experience, financial risk, and operational complexity
- Ability to work across frontend, backend, APIs, data pipelines, and third-party integrations
- Demonstrated interest in protecting users and building trustworthy financial products
- English language proficiency
- Nice to have: Experience with fraud, risk, identity, KYC, AML, sanctions, payments, fintech, or blockchain systems
