Wispr AI is building the voice interface for computing. The company's first products—Flow (natural voice interaction in any application) and Notetaker (context-building across conversations)—represent a shift toward AI systems that perceive, understand, and act with earned trust. The team is talent-dense, opinion-driven, and focused on shipping technology that sparks joy.
In this Staff Engineer role, you will own the architecture and reliability of Wispr on Windows. You'll close critical quality gaps, define how improvement is measured, and build foundations that make every Windows experience easier to ship correctly.
Key responsibilities:
- Set technical direction for Windows architecture and native integrations
- Make onboarding, text insertion, screen context, and background behavior performant and reliable
- Solve difficult performance and correctness failures across devices and applications
- Define and improve metrics representing the Windows user experience (activation, satisfaction, performance, retention, support volume)
- Build reusable systems that raise quality across the Windows product
You should have designed a client system or platform that other engineers successfully built on, recently shipped meaningful production code yourself, and be able to debug unfamiliar systems from first principles. Experience owning and improving metrics that represent user experience is valuable. You combine architectural judgment with attention to product quality.
Deep Windows experience is a strong advantage but not required. Prior experience with voice, ML, or Electron is not required. The company prioritizes exceptional client-platform depth above all.
Wispr sponsors H1B, O1, EB1, L1, STEM OPT, and other visa categories. The company encourages applications from candidates who don't meet every qualification and is committed to a fair and accessible interview process.
