With over 25 million users and $18 billion in annual transaction volume, the company offers buy-now-pay-later solutions to consumers and payment flexibility to 70,000+ global brands including Amazon, Noon, IKEA, and SHEIN. Founded in 2019, Tabby has raised over $1 billion and is valued at $6.5 billion, operating as the largest and fastest-growing fintech in the GCC region. We are seeking a Staff Engineer to drive high-impact technical initiatives within our Core Backend organization. You will shape the technical direction and roadmap of shared services, libraries, and developer tools used across Tabby's engineering teams globally. Your responsibilities include: • Identifying common challenges across teams and building reusable solutions that improve developer productivity, system reliability, and security. • Leading the design and evolution of shared backend capabilities, including event-driven communication, application-level encryption, and sensitive data protection. • Developing internal engineering tools such as the Service Catalog, API Registry, SLO platform, and AI-assisted development tools, ensuring they are useful and easy to adopt. • Driving complex initiatives from problem discovery and design through implementation, rollout, and production validation, coordinating work across multiple engineering teams. • Working closely with teams using your tools to understand their needs, support integrations and migrations, and use feedback to guide improvements. • Staying hands-on with Go, validating performance and failure scenarios, and building observability and recovery mechanisms into systems that other teams depend on. • Raising the engineering bar through architecture reviews, clear technical decision-making, mentoring, and documentation that enables others to own and extend shared systems. You will work alongside a world-class remote engineering team spread across 20+ countries in a high-growth environment. REQUIREMENTS: • 7+ years of backend engineering, including building and operating production systems at scale. • Strong Go experience and a proven track record of staying hands-on in senior technical roles. • Deep expertise in distributed, high-load systems. Familiarity with PostgreSQL, Redis, Kubernetes, GCP, GitLab, and microservices architecture. • Proven ownership of complex initiatives from design through production, including architecture and technology decisions with lasting impact. • Strong grasp of quality, security, observability, and operational excellence. • Experience integrating third-party APIs and contributing to product development. • Ability to influence decisions across teams and explain technical topics clearly to non-technical stakeholders. • Experience mentoring engineers and raising the technical bar across a team or organization. • Strong English communication skills and a proactive, autonomous approach to ambiguous problems.
