Ecair is building the first platform engineering team within its product engineering organization. This is the founding role of that platform team, joining at an exciting inflection point where several products have proven product-market fit but significant work remains to scale and consolidate the platform.
You will work on:
- An agentic platform that automates case processing for customers, improving security, speed, and efficiency
- Consumer financing offerings designed to drive real-world impact on ecological transition
The product organization operates on pragmatic principles: two-week cycles, projects mapped to large or small initiatives, and a shared web app used by operations teams, clients, and end consumers—enabling strong feedback loops and responsiveness on product quality. Two PMs are joining in the coming months to help manage priorities and requirements definition.
Engineering Culture & Principles:
The team believes velocity and rigor are not mutually exclusive. While not optimizing for microsecond latency, the team maintains strict performance standards (p95 <600ms) while prioritizing deep problem understanding and clean modeling. TypeScript is the primary tool, used expressively and fully. Tool selection is pragmatic—chosen based on problem fit, not passion.
Tech Stack:
- Frontend: React (Vite SPA), Tailwind, Cloudflare
- Backend: Distributed systems with tRPC (internal HTTP API), PostgreSQL (DrizzleORM), S3, Redis
- Async: Redis + BullMQ
- Monitoring: Datadog (logs, APM, error management)
- Public API: OpenAPI, Hono
- AI/Agents: Primarily Anthropic Claude models; 26% of PRs shipped entirely by Claude as of early 2026, with Claude involved in 50%+ of remaining work. Regular team discussions on agent usage; direction focuses on strengthening TypeScript and linter tooling to maximize agent effectiveness.
Requirements:
- Minimum 6 years as a Software Engineer or Product Engineer
- Experience in product-oriented, tech-driven environments
- Proven background in platform engineering roles
