Salary: USD 216,000 - 255,000 / annual
Oura is seeking a Staff Electrical Engineer to join the hardware team designing future wearables and accessory devices. This is a hybrid role based in San Francisco.
You will own electrical design and development of cutting-edge wearable and consumer devices, with emphasis on precision and reliability. Key responsibilities include:
- Lead electrical architecture, schematic design, and PCB/flex integration for next-generation products
- Define and execute rapid prototyping efforts for concepts and evaluations using both off-the-shelf and custom hardware
- Conduct thorough testing, validation, and troubleshooting of electrical systems to meet performance and safety standards; collaborate with QA on test plans
- Partner with mechanical engineers to ensure seamless integration of electrical components into physical designs
- Work with firmware engineers on embedded systems and software-hardware compatibility; develop scripts and tools for bring-up, test, and profiling
- Collaborate with leadership to define and refine product roadmaps and timelines
- Act as a technical leader and mentor across multiple organizations

REQUIREMENTS:
- 10+ years of experience designing and shipping high-volume consumer electronics as an HW Systems Integrator
- Proven experience with ultra-low-power microprocessors, SoCs, MEMS sensors, and wireless charging technologies
- Strong expertise in designing and validating custom analog and digital circuits; proficiency with communication protocols (UART, I2C, MIPI, SPI, DSI, etc.)
- Hands-on experience with schematic capture and PCB layout software (Altium, KiCad, etc.)
- Demonstrated ability to build rapid prototypes and validate electrical/signal performance using lab equipment (rework, DMMs, oscilloscopes, signal generators, power analyzers)
- Experience designing, building, and testing high-density PCBs, flexes, batteries, and sensing modules from concept to production
- Experience working with contract manufacturers (CMs/JDMs) on high-precision, high-quality products
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; comfortable with ambiguity and technical challenges
- Ability to drive tasks independently and mentor across organizations
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience with connected wearables, health and optical sensing, audio, and small form-factor products
- Ability to travel overseas to Europe and Asia several times per year
- Familiarity with wireless protocols (BLE, BT, WiFi, NFC, 802.15.4, etc.)
- Experience with 3D printing and mechanical fabrication tools
