Salary: USD 123,000 - 209,000 / annual
Halo Industries, founded in 2014 at Stanford University, is a pioneer in light-based manufacturing innovation. The company has secured significant funding in 2024 and is transitioning from prototype to production phase, rapidly expanding its team to accelerate development of next-generation semiconductor capital equipment.
The Electrical Engineering team is seeking experienced engineers to join a dynamic R&D environment. You will act as a system or module owner responsible for specification, design, build, and validation of electrical systems for wafer processing equipment. You will work in close collaboration with software, mechanical, and process engineers, engaging in full system design with strong ownership from definition through delivery.
Key responsibilities include:
- Partner with cross-functional teams (Software, Mechanical, Process) to define system requirements and ensure integration of semiconductor capital equipment
- Design electrical power distribution, device I/O control, interlock schemes, and interface circuitry
- Create and manage project schedules with strong ownership of deliverables
- Integrate, direct, and lead team members in system design, build, and test activities
- Lead design reviews, risk assessments, and DFMEA processes within a stage-gate framework
- Collaborate with internal and external manufacturing partners to build, refine, and release designs
- Build, test, and debug prototype machines and subsystems
- Drive methodical multi-disciplinary root cause analysis when necessary
- Elevate the team by sharing expertise and guiding other team members
Requirements:
- BSEE with 3+ years experience OR MSEE with 2+ years experience
- Experience with design of power distribution, I/O control systems, interlocking, and motion control
- Proficiency with electrical tools (AutoCAD Electrical, Altium, SPICE)
- Proven ability to drive complex, cross-functional hardware and embedded system issues from root cause to resolution
- Proficiency with lab tools (oscilloscope, DVM, logic analyzers, hand tools)
- Strong working knowledge of industry standards such as NFPA79 and UL 508A
- Experience with build, test, and debug of prototype power panels, PCBAs, cables, I/O systems, and computers
- Experience organizing and tracking internal and external resources
- Experience with PLM and ERP systems for BOM and ECO management
Preferred qualifications include semiconductor capital equipment development to SEMI S2/S22 standards, EtherCAT and safety PLC integration, industrial computer and OS integration, equipment risk assessment (SEMI S10, IEC 62061), analog circuit and FPGA design, mechanical CAD proficiency (SolidWorks), test automation, and strong leadership and communication skills.
