Anduril Industries is seeking a Staff Electrical Engineer to lead the electrical architecture of a CEO-priority counter-UAS (unmanned aerial system) program. This is a soldier-portable, auto-aiming system combining actuator-driven steerable platforms, computer vision models, LIDAR ballistic calculators, and integrated power/compute subsystems. The mission is urgent: ensure U.S. warfighters are protected from drone threats.
You will own the electrical architecture end-to-end, taking an existing prototype through ruggedization and into production-ready design. This includes assessing the current prototype, documenting existing knowledge, and identifying gaps across power, sensing, compute, and actuator drive subsystems. You will build a technical roadmap bridging the prototype to a full Weapon Systems prototype with production-intent parts and long-term architecture.
Key responsibilities include:
- Hiring and leading a multidisciplinary engineering team (electrical, mechanical, software) capable of rapid iteration under aggressive timelines
- Designing and integrating electrical subsystems: electro-optical/IR sensors, power and compute boards, actuator drive electronics, and control systems
- Balancing trade-offs across bandwidth, force, speed, size/weight/power (SWaP), and ruggedization requirements
- Establishing and executing test plans for electro-optical, actuator, and power subsystems; pivoting quickly based on data
- Ruggedizing, qualifying, and certifying the integrated prototype against shock, vibration, thermal, and environmental conditions for soldier-carried deployment
- Transitioning the validated design into early production, collaborating with manufacturing, test/evaluation, and supply chain teams
- Communicating program status directly to executive and CEO-level stakeholders on this high-visibility initiative
This role is part of Anduril's Warfighter Systems division, which pioneers mixed-reality technologies that integrate real-time data with visualization tools to empower warfighters with situational awareness and operational superiority.
**REQUIREMENTS:**
- B.S. or higher in Electrical Engineering or related technical field
- 8+ years of professional electrical engineering experience with demonstrated design ownership on complex electromechanical systems
- Proven ability to lead and manage multi-disciplinary engineering teams for rapid hardware prototyping and iteration
- Demonstrated experience taking hardware from bench prototype through ruggedization to early manufacturing (prototype-to-production)
- Familiarity with actuator dynamics (bandwidth, force, speed trade-offs) and associated drive electronics and control systems
- Breadth across EE subsystems: electro-optical/IR sensors, power and compute board design, closed-loop control systems
- Ability to author and execute pragmatic test plans, interpret results, and change course to deliver working products on aggressive timelines
- Self-starter mentality; capable of identifying problems, proposing solutions, and executing with minimal oversight
- U.S. Person status required (access to export-controlled data)
**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:**
- Experience designing soldier-portable platforms with practical SWaP and ergonomic constraints
- Experience with sensor fusion, computer vision model integration, and algorithm pipelines at system level
- Background in counter-UAS, fire control, or precision targeting systems
- Experience designing for extreme shock, vibration, and environmental sealing in defense or ruggedized applications
- Experience communicating program status to executive and CEO-level stakeholders
- Active Secret Security clearance or higher; or prior cleared work with ability to obtain and maintain clearance
