Lightmatter is a venture-backed company leading the revolution in AI data center infrastructure. The company invented the world's first 3D-stacked photonics engine, Passage™, capable of connecting thousands to millions of processors at the speed of light in extreme-scale data centers for advanced AI and HPC workloads. The company raised $400 million in Series D at a $4.4 billion valuation.
You will join as a Staff Electrical Design Engineer contributing to the development of next-generation silicon photonics-based AI accelerators and interconnect products. In this role, you will lead board and system solutions leveraging Lightmatter's photonics technology to enable advanced machine learning, AI, and large-scale interconnect platforms.
Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with system architects and technical leads to define system-level hardware requirements and specifications
- Electrical design of power, memory, and interconnect circuits in both analog and digital domains
- Identifying electrical and optical components to fit applications based on IC and photonics engineering team specifications
- Developing conceptual designs, physical modeling, and simulations of chip-modules and systems from fundamental concepts
- Overseeing and reviewing PCB layout designs with complete electrical constraint rules
- Ensuring board and system manufacturability using latest technologies with high yield and robustness
- Qualification of chip and system electrical properties and laboratory validation
- Leading integration across mechanical, software, IC, and related teams
- Supporting contract manufacturing during prototype and production phases
- Working with component vendors and supply partners
- Researching new components, processes, and technologies to meet product goals
The role is open to two levels: Staff and Sr Staff, with leveling and salary placement dependent on education, experience, and interview performance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
- 8+ years of related experience in system-level electrical design, having successfully taken several products from concept to production
