You will join the Engineering Automation & AI Toolchain team, which builds the internal developer platform (Formation, Patina, and Manifold). As Staff DevOps Engineer, you will own Day-2 operations and infrastructure scaling challenges as the company grows.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead migrations from legacy infrastructure to modern platforms, designing migration strategy including sequencing, cutover, rollback, and validation
- Minimize disruption to dependent teams and establish repeatable migration patterns
- Extend the platform to new teams and toolchains, defining integration patterns
- Design Day-2 operations for capacity, upgrades, and lifecycle management at scale
- Build auditing systems for configuration drift, dependency currency, and secret/certificate lifecycle
- Maintain and review Infrastructure-as-Code, pipeline, and configuration standards
- Design monitoring, alerting, and SLOs with internal customers
- Lead complex incident response and drive postmortems to structural fixes
- Build automation and agent workflows with appropriate guardrails
- Codify expertise into runbooks and tooling for others
- Provide technical leadership on design reviews and platform initiatives
- Mentor junior engineers and delegate effectively
- Partner with IT, Security, Data, and operations teams
- Write design docs, decision records, and standards
- Implement security and compliance controls with automated audit evidence
- Model and forecast cloud cost and capacity
Relocation assistance is available.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 7–10 years of related experience in infrastructure, DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering
- Demonstrated experience migrating production systems off legacy infrastructure onto new platforms (sequencing, coexistence, cutover, rollback) without disrupting dependent teams
- Wide-ranging hands-on depth across AWS, Kubernetes, and Infrastructure-as-Code; demonstrated ability to resolve complex infrastructure problems requiring in-depth evaluation of competing factors
- Demonstrated experience operating and scaling CI/CD and GitOps delivery systems, including leading incident response in complex multi-system environments and converting failures into structural fixes
- Demonstrated experience leading technical work through others—directing engineers on initiatives, mentoring, and driving design reviews—and working effectively with partners outside your area of expertise
- Sufficient depth to supervise AI-generated work: ability to distinguish correct from merely plausible infrastructure code and operational output, and knowledge of which shortcuts are safe to take
