You will join the application engineering organization as a Senior Staff Backend Engineer, playing a pivotal role in shaping technical direction across multiple product domains. This is a hands-on role where you personally ship the hardest work in your domain while also setting architectural standards that neighboring teams adopt.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and evolve backend services and architectural patterns powering product workflows across two or more teams or domains
- Architect data models representing hierarchical and graph structures, relationships, and large-scale enterprise datasets, setting standards for adjacent teams
- Build deterministic, reliable systems enabling customers to reason clearly about their data
- Drive architectural decisions spanning multiple domains, balancing extensibility, performance, and operational simplicity
- Improve observability, testing strategy, and production reliability across owned systems and domains
- Identify architectural risks crossing team boundaries, surface edge cases and constraints, and advocate for improvements strengthening long-term system integrity
- Operate with high ownership, trust, and independent judgment; bring thoughtful, sometimes contrarian perspectives that challenge assumptions
You will work alongside staff, senior, and early-career engineers, partnering closely with engineering leadership. Most teams operate in EST, with some in AST, PST, and Central time zones. The culture emphasizes low meetings and high accountability.
