With $21B traded in 2025 and rapid growth, Polymarket is positioning itself as a ubiquitous beacon of truth in global media.
You will serve as a Staff Android Engineer responsible for setting technical direction and raising the bar across the Android platform. This is a high-ownership, high-influence role for someone with proven staff-level experience who can shape a platform, not just build on it.
Key responsibilities include:
- Setting technical direction for Android at Polymarket and owning architectural decisions
- Building and owning Android features spanning payments flows, real-time market data, and core UI with full accountability from design through production
- Implementing polished, performant interfaces with Jetpack Compose that perform reliably under real trading conditions
- Owning CI/CD pipelines and Gradle configuration to maintain build speed and release reliability as the team scales
- Building and maintaining integrations across WebSockets, gRPC, and streaming data for live market features
- Operating as a technical leader across a distributed team: communicating clearly, making autonomous decisions, and raising the engineering bar through code reviews and strong standards
- Actively incorporating AI tools into your development workflow to increase output and velocity
- Identifying and addressing gaps in Android architecture and engineering practices before they become problems at scale
Requirements:
- Significant Android engineering experience with a proven track record of owning and shaping Android platforms at scale, not just contributing to them
- Strong, current expertise in Kotlin with the ability to articulate tradeoffs and make architectural decisions with confidence
- Deep production experience building UI with Jetpack Compose with a high bar for performance and polish
- Experience owning CI/CD pipelines and Gradle build configuration end-to-end
- Solid understanding of modern Android architecture with the judgment to evolve it as the product scales
- Demonstrated track record of technical leadership: influencing how an engineering team works, not just what it ships
- Active use of AI tools in your development workflow as a real part of how you work, not occasionally
Plus factors (not required):
- Experience integrating payments on Android
- Experience with WebSockets, gRPC, or other real-time data patterns on mobile
- Familiarity with cross-platform shared-code architectures
- iOS or Swift experience
- Background at a larger, mature engineering organization where you saw and shaped practices as the company grew
