Salary: USD 110,000 - 150,000 / annual
Terran Orbital, a leading satellite manufacturer serving aerospace and defense industries, is seeking a Senior Systems Integration Engineer to join their dynamic team in Irvine, CA. Reporting to the Manager of Systems Integration & Test, you will work within a multidisciplinary team to build, integrate, and test space vehicles at both sub-system and system levels.
This is a full-time position on a weekend shift schedule (Friday–Sunday, 6:00 AM – 7:00 PM).
Key responsibilities include:
- Design vehicle assembly processes and procedures
- Design and develop tools and hardware to enable vehicle assembly and testing
- Develop comprehensive testing campaigns to ensure vehicle integrity of electronic and mechanical systems
- Define vehicle integration build flow and test concept of operations
- Evaluate proposed designs for manufacturability and integration into sub-systems
- Interface with engineers and technicians to advance toward larger-scale manufacturing and automation
- Develop and refine manufacturing assembly procedures based on lessons learned
- Enable day-to-day execution of vehicle integration and test flow
- Manage work orders and drive non-conformances into actionable items and system improvements
- Resolve electrical and mechanical issue debugging at the satellite system and sub-system level
- Perform hands-on work, including standing for extended periods
The role operates in a professional manufacturing environment and requires substantial computer usage alongside hands-on technical work. Physical demands include sitting or standing for long durations, bending, reaching, walking, and lifting objects up to 10 pounds routinely, occasionally up to 25 pounds.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline
- 5+ years of relevant experience
- U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance
Desirable qualifications:
- Master's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Electrical Engineering or related field
- Experience with build integration and testing of propulsion, thermal, electrical, and structural systems (vibration, shock, thermal, vacuum, radiation testing)
- Electrical debugging of PCB assemblies and ability to read electrical schematics
- Documentation and configuration management experience
- Experience writing test plans and procedures with go/no-go judgment capability
- Production environment experience within aerospace industry
- Laboratory experience, particularly in cleanroom environments with ESD precautions
- Ability to read and write basic code in any primary programming language
- Experience with Linux-based operating systems
