Albedo is building infrastructure to enable satellite missions in Very Low Earth Orbit (VLEO), below 300 km altitude. The company designs and manufactures spacecraft buses, integrated satellites, and turnkey missions for customers operating in this emerging orbital domain. VLEO operations present unique engineering challenges including atmospheric drag, atomic oxygen exposure, and high-precision pointing requirements. As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will drive the design and development of Albedo's VLEO spacecraft across the full mission lifecycle, from early concept through on-orbit operations. Your responsibilities include: - Lead system-level architecture, requirements definition, interface management, and technical trade studies for spacecraft platforms - Collaborate across engineering disciplines (GNC, avionics, payload, thermal, power, flight software) to ensure seamless subsystem integration - Develop, analyze, and maintain critical performance budgets including pointing accuracy, power, thermal, and data throughput - Support spacecraft integration, verification, and testing campaigns, including functional, performance, and environmental testing - Own system requirements documentation, interface specifications, and verification traceability matrices - Identify and resolve system-level technical challenges and integration risks specific to VLEO operations - Partner with customers, payload providers, and vendors to define technical interfaces and align requirements - Help scale Albedo's systems engineering processes and influence spacecraft design decisions The company operates with a first-principles approach, emphasizing speed, calculated risk-taking, and rapid learning. AI tools are used regularly across disciplines. The team works in-person at the Broomfield headquarters to maximize productivity and collaboration. **Requirements:** - 3–6 years of systems engineering or related experience in aerospace, preferably spacecraft or high-performance hardware platforms - Familiarity with spacecraft subsystems (avionics, power, thermal, GNC, payload) and system-level interactions - Experience developing and executing system-level analysis and testing to meet mission objectives - Exposure to integration and test campaigns: environmental testing, functional testing, or cross-subsystem bring-up - Familiarity with modeling tools (MATLAB, Simulink, Python-based frameworks) and interest in expanding simulation skills - Strong organizational and communication skills with attention to detail - Curiosity and drive to take ownership of problems in a fast-moving environment - Regular use of AI tools as leverage to accelerate work and multiply output - Must be a U.S. Person as defined under 22 CFR 120.62
