Shield AI is a venture-backed defense-tech company developing autonomous systems, aircraft, and simulation technologies for military and civilian applications. The Sr Staff Contracts Manager will lead contract strategy and administration across the organization, serving as the primary point of contact for all contractual matters.
Key responsibilities include:
• Identify and execute appropriate contract vehicles; prepare, review, negotiate, and execute customer contracts, NDAs, MOUs, teaming agreements, SOWs, and proposal documentation
• Support supply chain by drafting and negotiating subcontract and supplier terms and conditions
• Administer large, complex government contracts including performance monitoring, compliance management, modifications, amendments, and key negotiations
• Serve as primary contact for contractual matters involving customers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders
• Collaborate with Legal, Finance, Program Management, and other teams to align transactions with strategic objectives and resolve disputes
• Identify contractual and regulatory risks; coordinate compliance with FAR, DFARS, ITAR, and other applicable requirements
• Manage technical data and computer software rights in government contracts
• Maintain accurate records and documentation of all contract-related activities
• Issue subcontractor RFPs and conduct cost/price analysis to assess reasonableness
• Coordinate and document subcontractor proposal evaluations with cross-functional teams
• Develop and maintain small business subcontracting plans and monitor performance
This is a hybrid role based in Washington, D.C. with occasional travel to customer sites and other Shield AI offices.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor's degree, preferably in Business Administration, Law, Contracts Management, or related field
• 8+ years of contract management experience, preferably in defense contracting with cradle-to-grave administration of CPAF, CPFF, FFP, and T&M government contracts
• Strong knowledge of FAR, DFARS, OTAs, ITAR, and government procurement processes
• Experience negotiating complex terms and conditions and managing government contracts
• Exceptional communication and organizational skills with strong attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and support multiple stakeholders in fast-paced environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
PREFERRED:
• Certification in Contracts Management (CPCM, CFCM, or similar)
• Experience with software licensing and development contracts
