Veza (now part of ServiceNow) is seeking a Senior Software Engineering Manager to lead the Non-Human Identity (NHI) and Agent Security team. This is a high-impact leadership role at the center of the engineering organization, combining people leadership with deep technical partnership.
You will own the technical vision and roadmap for Veza's NHI and Agent Security team, which drives visibility and governance of non-human and agentic identities across enterprise systems. As AI agents and copilots rapidly expand, this team is redefining next-generation security and helping shape industry standards for discovering agents, tracking their actions, and defining access management and runtime authorization capabilities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading skilled backend engineers and tech leads, setting the technical vision for the team
- Owning the full talent lifecycle: hiring, onboarding, mentoring, retention, and performance management
- Driving architecture, design patterns, and engineering best practices for enterprise systems
- Partnering with product, integrations, platform, and security engineering teams to expand Veza's capabilities
- Conducting design and code reviews to ensure quality and adherence to engineering standards
- Identifying and championing new technologies, including AI/ML, to advance product development
- Ensuring high performance, reliability, observability, and compliance across the product
- Defining and driving detailed engineering execution plans and processes that maintain shipping velocity
- Shaping the long-term agent identity security roadmap alongside the Product team
- Working closely with other ServiceNow teams to drive next-generation identity governance
You will be a player-coach: comfortable diving into the codebase at appropriate technical depth while maintaining organizational oversight across multiple workstreams. You'll translate complex technical concepts for both engineering teams and senior leadership, and create conditions for high-performing engineers to do their best work.
Requirements:
- 10+ years of backend software engineering experience with strong focus on distributed systems or identity security
- 4+ years in an engineering leadership role, ideally spanning both startup and enterprise SaaS environments
- Experience integrating AI/ML models into product workflows or leveraging AI to enhance product experience at scale (strongly preferred)
- Familiarity with emerging AI technologies and frameworks, with track record of driving AI adoption
- Familiarity with Identity Governance & Administration (IGA) or how traditional systems are evolving with agents
- Deep familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), distributed systems, and containerization (Kubernetes)
- Experience with authentication, authorization protocols, and IAM concepts
- Hands-on proficiency in one or more of Go, Java, or Python
- Demonstrated ability to lead and grow a fully distributed, high-performing engineering team
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Clear, proactive communication skills
- High standards, intellectual curiosity, and low ego; ability to hire and develop talent stronger than yourself
