Penguin Solutions (Nasdaq: PENG), an AI Factory Platform Company, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Taiwan to develop robust testing software and APIs that bridge complex engineering design and high-volume mass production. The role focuses on translating Windows-centric, vendor Mass Production Tools (MPTools) into safe, error-proof counterparts optimized for Linux-based production environments and non-expert operators. You will design, develop, and deploy production-level software tools and frameworks ensuring proper testing, validation, and quality control on the manufacturing floor. Core responsibilities include writing and maintaining robust APIs enabling seamless interaction between Linux-based production testers and Windows-based vendor MPTools; translating complex engineering workflows into streamlined applications with built-in safety checks suitable for production floor operators; bridging the OS divide by adapting vendor engineering tools into an efficient Linux mass production ecosystem; and utilizing AI coding assistants (e.g., Cursor) to rapidly develop, debug, and optimize software. Additional responsibilities: implement and troubleshoot SATA and NVMe protocol communications, including Vendor Unique Commands; collaborate closely with Engineering and Production teams to understand the nuanced differences between engineering requirements (flexibility, diagnostics) and production requirements (stability, speed, error-proofing, simplicity); and occasional travel to customer sites and industry events. Penguin Solutions, headquartered in Silicon Valley, operates globally through R&D, manufacturing, and sales locations. For nearly three decades, the company has operated at the intersection of memory and AI/HPC infrastructure, positioning it to power the next generation of AI workloads from training to inference and agentic AI at scale. The company values ideas over hierarchy, servant leadership, ownership, innovation, and continuous learning. REQUIREMENTS: - Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (mandatory) - 3–5 years of experience in DRAM module burn-in, stress testing, and failure analysis - Experience working with Vendor Unique Commands and mass production tools for storage controllers - Previous experience in SSD or storage manufacturing test environments, specifically building tools from scratch - Deep understanding of Windows vs. Linux environments and ability to integrate Windows-developed vendor tools into Linux production infrastructure - Strong proficiency in Python, C, and Bash scripting for full-stack tool creation and automation - Deep technical knowledge of SATA and NVMe protocols - Solid, practical understanding of strict differences between Engineering and Production environments (user safety, error handling, system uptime, operational simplicity) - Familiarity with UI/UX principles for manufacturing execution systems (MES) or operator dashboards - Demonstrated experience or strong willingness to use AI-assisted coding tools (Cursor, Codex) to accelerate software development lifecycle - Excellent interpersonal skills with strong English verbal and written communication capabilities; ability to articulate technical concepts to local and international teams - Willingness to travel occasionally
