Prosper is seeking a Senior Frontend Engineer to join the Personal Loans team and own borrower-facing experiences that drive the company's core business—from rate checks through funding. You will build and maintain React and React Native applications that guide borrowers through critical financial decisions, directly impacting conversion rates, borrower satisfaction, and top-line growth.
In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams including product, design, backend engineering, and quality engineers to deliver seamless experiences across web and mobile platforms. You'll own projects end-to-end, from technical design and architecture through launch, iteration, and measurement. You will build and evolve React and React Native applications within a pnpm/Turborepo monorepo, design and maintain shared component libraries, and partner with backend teams to integrate GraphQL and RESTful APIs in performant, reliable, and secure ways.
You'll identify and drive improvements in performance, testing, accessibility, and developer experience. The role emphasizes high code quality and user experience while iterating rapidly in a regulated financial environment. You'll leverage AI-powered tools (coding assistants, automated testing, code review) to amplify productivity and help establish best practices for AI-assisted development across the team. You'll also contribute to a strong engineering culture by mentoring peers, championing best practices, and participating in thoughtful code reviews.
Prosper is investing heavily in AI across the engineering organization, from AI-assisted development workflows to intelligent borrower experiences. You'll be joining a team that actively embraces AI tools to accelerate delivery and improve code quality.
The role is hybrid, requiring 2 days per week in the San Francisco office with flexibility for remote work.
REQUIREMENTS:
- BS in EE/CS with 8+ years of experience, OR MS in EE/CS or other applicable disciplines with 6+ years of experience
- Deep proficiency in React, React Native, and TypeScript, with ability to move seamlessly between web and mobile platforms
- Hands-on experience with GraphQL (Apollo) and RESTful APIs
- Familiarity with monorepos (pnpm, Turborepo), bundlers (Vite), and CI/CD pipelines
- Disciplined approach to automated testing using Jest, Playwright, or Detox
- Active use of AI coding assistants (Cursor, Copilot) and commitment to exploring new AI developments
- Sharp eye for UX/UI polish in high-stakes financial flows
- Proactive, high-accountability approach to driving projects to completion
- Deep focus on borrower experience and financial accuracy
- Excellence in cross-functional communication and team mentorship
PREFERRED:
- Experience with Expo and mobile deployment workflows (App Store, Google Play)
- Familiarity with cross-platform styling systems (Tamagui, styled-components)
- Background in fintech, lending, or other regulated industries
- Experience with feature flagging, A/B testing, and data-driven product development
- Native mobile development experience (Swift/Kotlin)
