ServiceNow is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and operate core components of its Kubernetes platform and subsystems. You will own a well-scoped area end-to-end, writing and reviewing Go code for controllers, operators, platform services, and automation. The role involves taking defined problems with open design questions and driving them to production-ready solutions with minimal direction needed. You'll help operate what the team builds through on-call rotations, incident investigation, and follow-up work to prevent recurrence. You'll also contribute to how workloads run on the platform, collaborating with dependent teams. The platform serves regulated markets where compliance constraints, including FedRAMP, shape design choices.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience leveraging or critically thinking about how to integrate AI into engineering work (AI-powered coding tools, workflow automation, or reasoning about AI's impact on software/infrastructure development)
- Proven track record building and shipping Kubernetes infrastructure or platform components in production (owned design, not just configuration/consumption)
- 5+ years building production software with real experience running workloads on Kubernetes and debugging failures
- Solid programming skills in Go, or strong systems-language background with clear willingness to work primarily in Go
- Working experience with at least one major hyperscaler (AWS, Azure, GCP), including core compute, networking, and IAM primitives
- Comfort with containers, CI/CD, GitOps-based delivery, and infrastructure-as-code
- Curiosity about how AI changes platform engineering
NICE-TO-HAVE:
- Experience building Kubernetes controllers or operators with the operator pattern
- Exposure to container networking (CNI), service mesh, or workload identity and mTLS
- Experience with secrets management, certificate lifecycle, or similar core platform subsystems
- Experience with observability tooling (metrics, tracing, SLOs)
- Experience with managed Kubernetes (EKS/AKS/GKE), Terraform, or Crossplane
