RecargaPay is building a financial super-app for Latin America, and the Lending squad is one of the fastest-growing verticals. As a Senior Software Engineer on the Lending team, you will own the backend systems powering credit products across the full lifecycle: risk decisioning, origination, analysis, disbursement, and repayment. This is a high-ownership role where correctness, resilience, and security are non-negotiable, and your technical decisions directly impact financial outcomes for millions of customers.
You will design and build backend services supporting the complete credit journey with a focus on customer experience. You'll contribute to risk-aware system design by modeling edge cases, reasoning about failure modes, and building controls that protect both customers and the business. You will write production-grade Java/Spring services on AWS with strong emphasis on observability, fault tolerance, and security. You'll participate actively in technical decisions through architecture reviews, RFCs, and incident retrospectives, influencing how the team solves complex problems.
Collaboration is central to the role: you'll work closely with product, data, and risk teams to translate complex business requirements into reliable, maintainable software. You'll mentor peers through code reviews and technical discussions, raising the bar without gatekeeping.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong backend engineering fundamentals with hands-on experience in Java and Spring (Boot, MVC, Security, Data)
- Solid AWS experience: you've designed and operated distributed services in the cloud, not just deployed to it
- Structured approach to problem analysis: you understand the system, the tradeoffs, and downstream risk
- Ability to operate autonomously: drive tasks to completion, surface blockers early, and self-direct
- Clear, direct communication: explain technical positions to engineers, product managers, and risk analysts without losing substance
- Experience building systems where reliability and security are first-class concerns (financial services, payments, or regulated domains is a plus)
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience in credit, lending, or financial products
- Familiarity with event-driven architectures (Kafka or similar)
- Knowledge of fraud prevention, risk scoring, or compliance patterns
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code
