onsemi, a Nasdaq-listed semiconductor company, is seeking a Senior Principal Analog IC Design Engineer to join the Sensor Interface Division design team in Bangalore. The team develops high-speed, low-power mixed-signal ICs for automotive Ethernet and automotive SerDes applications.
In this role, you will architect, specify, and implement one of three core high-speed analog blocks: Class-AB Line drivers, high-speed Receiver chains (including PGA and filters), or high-speed PLL designs. You will own the full design lifecycle from feasibility studies and architecture definition through silicon validation and production qualification.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting feasibility studies and defining product architectures for new high-speed communication chips
- Generating detailed specifications and circuit design verification plans for assigned analog blocks
- Developing MATLAB and Verilog-A behavioral models of analog subsystems
- Guiding and supporting layout engineers on design implementation
- Integrating analog blocks into complex mixed-signal SoC designs
- Performing top-level mixed-signal simulations and system-level validation
- Leading silicon evaluation and characterization in the lab
- Supporting production test development and design-for-testability activities
- Contributing to design methodology and design flow improvements
The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in high-speed analog design, demonstrated by at least one successful tape-out and silicon validation. You will work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment with opportunities for continuous learning and international project participation.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering
- Minimum 6–15+ years of IC design work experience
- Extensive hands-on experience designing high-speed, high-performance analog blocks (Class-AB drivers, receiver chains, or PLLs) from scratch, with at least one successful tape-out and silicon validation
- Strong knowledge of low-noise design techniques and high-precision analog design in the presence of device mismatch
- Proficiency in C, MATLAB, and/or Verilog-A modeling
- Deep understanding of device physics and ability to optimize for noise, power, area, and performance trade-offs
- Practical experience with lab instrumentation (spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, signal generators) for analog validation
- Experience collaborating with production test engineers on test plans and DFT details
- Familiarity with IP integration and mixed-signal IC verification flows
- Knowledge of automotive SerDes/Ethernet link budget analysis (advantageous)
- Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal
- Desirable: experience leading project activities, scripting languages, and digital design fundamentals
