Acorns is seeking a Senior Martech Engineer, Mobile to own the technical reliability of marketing instrumentation and integrations across iOS and Android apps. You will implement and debug mobile SDKs, build marketing integrations, and validate that critical events reach their intended destinations with correct data while collaborating across Mobile Engineering, Data Engineering, and Marketing teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Mobile SDKs and Instrumentation: Implement, maintain, and debug attribution, analytics, and engagement SDK integrations in iOS and Android apps. Contribute mobile code for event tracking, identity handling, consent, and deep linking. Define and validate SDK initialization, event sequencing, and login/logout behavior. Investigate missing or duplicate events, incorrect parameters, SDK conflicts, and platform differences. Partner with Core Client engineers on code reviews, SDK upgrades, release testing, and production fixes.
Attribution and Marketing Integrations: Configure and maintain mobile and web attribution, including attribution windows, reattribution, deduplication, fraud filtering, and SKAdNetwork/AdAttributionKit. Implement and test deep links and deferred deep links for acquisition and lifecycle campaigns. Build and maintain advertising integrations, including conversion APIs, enhanced conversions, affiliate postbacks, and conversion crediting. Partner with Data Engineering to deliver conversion events, audiences, and suppressions through reverse ETL. Investigate differences between internal conversion data, attribution providers, and ad platforms.
Event Definitions and Identity: Maintain documented definitions for marketing events with required parameters, identifiers, owners, and destinations. Ensure anonymous and authenticated activity connects correctly across app SDKs and downstream platforms. Work with first-party customer IDs, device and advertising IDs, click IDs, and hashed PII. Ensure tracking respects customer consent. Maintain consistent event and identity definitions across mobile, web, and backend systems.
Platform Configuration and Integration Support: Own and maintain integrations across apps, marketing tools, data platforms, and ad platforms with documented data flows and ownership. Support Lifecycle Marketing with event triggers, personalization, audience delivery, push notifications, and deep links. Partner with platform owners and vendors on technical configuration and troubleshooting.
Validation and Monitoring: Validate event payloads and downstream delivery for critical marketing flows before app releases. Automate testing and monitor critical marketing flows for issues. Trace events from app through attribution and ad platforms to diagnose failures. Scope and deliver instrumentation and integration changes with cross-functional teams.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, including hands-on mobile development and experience in Martech, adtech, growth engineering, or mobile measurement
- Strong production development experience in Swift/iOS and Kotlin/Android, with working familiarity with Flutter
- Hands-on experience implementing and maintaining mobile attribution, analytics, or engagement SDKs
- Experience with app lifecycle behavior, SDK initialization, identity changes, deep linking, and debugging on physical devices
- Experience delivering marketing integrations from app instrumentation through attribution and downstream delivery
- Experience with mobile measurement partners (e.g., Adjust), event-routing platforms (e.g., RudderStack, Segment), and activation platforms (e.g., Hightouch)
- Strong understanding of SKAdNetwork/AdAttributionKit, ATT, advertising identifiers, and consent requirements
- Ability to use device logs, network inspection, API diagnostics, and SQL to investigate events and reconcile data across systems
- Experience implementing tests, monitoring, or alerts for instrumentation and integrations
- Clear documentation and communication skills with ability to scope ambiguous problems and drive them to completion across teams
Nice to Have:
- Production mobile development experience on both iOS and Android
- Experience with lifecycle messaging platforms, push notifications, and in-app messaging
- Familiarity with mobile release processes and automated app testing
- Warehouse or lakehouse experience, including dbt or Delta Lake
- Experience with feature flags and remote configuration
- Familiarity with predictive marketing signals such as pLTV
- Experience in regulated environments such as financial services
