Base Power is rebuilding America's electrical grid by deploying distributed battery systems. The company is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Systems Engineer to lead the deployment, sustaining, and improvement of automated manufacturing test systems for battery backup systems. You will own uptime, cycle time, and first-pass yield (FPY) improvements on manufacturing test equipment. You'll collaborate cross-functionally with design and operations teams to ensure test equipment meets world-class standards. Your responsibilities include performing data analysis and voice-of-customer discussions to identify post-deployment challenges, understanding test equipment engineering first principles at a system level, building and validating test equipment for deployment to contract manufacturers and internal production lines, and providing ongoing troubleshooting support after deployment. You'll also support equipment troubleshooting and qualification during development and ramp-up phases. The Manufacturing Engineering team owns the interface between proof of concept and scalable, profitable production. You'll be the feedback loop between product design and manufacturing, ensuring designs are manufacturable at cost and scale. Base is a startup where priorities shift quickly; your role may expand based on business needs. REQUIREMENTS: - 5+ years of experience in electrical test systems design - Exposure to a wide variety of test and automation systems, production machinery, industrial sensors, data acquisition, safety, and I/O devices (pogo-pins, pressure transducers, temperature controllers, current and power meters, PLCs, etc.) - Hands-on experience designing and building end-of-line and functional test systems - Experience with Linux and Windows operating systems - Understanding of grid simulators, RLC power manipulation, inverter operations, and power system controls - Ability to read and understand software code (TestStand, LabVIEW, Python, Golang, C, C++) - Experience with CAN bus communications and ability to interpret traces - Basic proficiency in PLC programming and troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley/Siemens) - Effective at summarizing and presenting data to technical and non-technical audiences - Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
