Salary: USD 220,000 - 240,000 / annual
Amperesand is building next-generation power infrastructure systems using intelligent, software-defined technology to support the rapidly evolving energy landscape. The company develops hardware and software solutions that modernize power systems for AI factories, electric vehicles, and industrial growth, with manufacturing hubs in San Francisco, Reno, and Singapore.
The Senior Manager of Reliability Engineering will lead reliability strategy and operations across California and Nevada test sites. This is a hands-on leadership role combining deep engineering expertise with team management and operational excellence. You will own reliability from R&D through mass production, designing products that meet the stringent quality and safety requirements of energy grid and hyperscaler customers.
Key responsibilities include:
- Define reliability vision and roadmap; build, mentor, and scale a top-tier engineering team
- Embed reliability principles into product design and development processes
- Drive DFMEA and fault-tree analysis; influence architecture decisions and set supplier reliability standards
- Build Amperesand's flagship reliability lab from the ground up, establishing test protocols and partnering with accredited labs for certifications
- Lead failure analysis and root-cause investigations; implement corrective actions and leverage fleet data for predictive insights
- Collaborate cross-functionally with design, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and service teams to integrate reliability feedback loops throughout development
The role requires 5 days per week on-site in the San Francisco Bay Area, with up to 20% travel to suppliers and customers in the USA and internationally.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or equivalent hands-on experience
- 6+ years of reliability engineering experience; power electronics and medium voltage industries highly preferred
- 3+ years leading engineering teams
- Expertise in accelerated testing, physics-of-failure analysis, and reliability statistics
- Hands-on experience with failure analysis techniques and tools
- Demonstrated track record delivering high-volume products with field reliability matching predicted reliability
- Knowledge of electrical safety and high-voltage hardware handling
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments; manages competing priorities and deadlines with composure
- Detail-oriented, data-driven decision-maker leveraging metrics and structured problem-solving
- Clear communicator effective across shop floor and senior leadership; fluent in multi-cultural, multi-functional team environments
- Proven ability to build teams and infrastructure for reliability excellence
